I wanted to host a shower for some friends getting married, but I knew I needed some help. My friend Gayle is so good at all things, food, planing, and more. I know this for many reasons, including working with her for our wedding reception. She made the night flow precisely like we wanted it to and our guest loved it, but that’s a whole other post. I’ve also seen her work at big venues like Mercy Ball in NWA. I now had a much smaller project for her… a wedding shower.

Anyway, Gayle was all in, she was going to be a guest but really ended up a cohost because she is so amazing. When we first started talking about it, she immediately put my mind at ease. I knew I’d be working the night before the shower and I knew that meant getting as much done as possible before work then trying to get up early the next day to finish before folks started to arrive.

We met for lunch a few weeks before the shower to talk about budget and ideas. I wanted it to be fun but also functional, and I wanted to incorporate foods the couple and their guest would like and not just stuff I like to eat. Gayle talked with them too and merged our ideas into the perfect combo of finger foods that even gave folks eating Keto options.

There are so many things to love about Gayle. She has a heart of gold, is down to earth, and cares about everyone she meets. She has such a loving and giving spirit that it just seeps into everything she does. If you’ve known her a few minutes or years, she’s going to give you her all, and she’s going to be kind and considerate in her efforts to help you achieve whatever it is that you’re going for on any particular occasion.

A couple of days before the party Gayle came over and took some of my serving platters and dishes. I told her I wanted to use them if we could make them work for the day. Then, the day of, she called me before she came over and asked me to preheat the oven for her so it would be ready to warm some of the dishes she’d made at her house. When she arrived, she began taking my brown table from a wood look to an array of treats for friends and family of the happy couple to enjoy.

The only issue we had was I enjoyed visiting with her so much I ran a few minutes late for the actual shower. Okay fine I can’t blame her for that, LOL.

Gayle, absolutely made the day and then when it was time for everyone to leave and say goodbye she helped me clean up. So,  at the end of the night I didn’ t end up with a lot of dishes to do or left over work. She made the day a success and put her shine on everything. If you ever want to work with someone who will stay within your budget and make an event as easy as possible for you and your family, call Gayle. She is amazing as both a professional and a friend.

On a more personal note I have to add one more thing. Gayle shared one of her mother’s quiche recipes with us. I don’ t normally like quiche, and I loved this flavorful dish. I never got to meet her mother in person because she’s already looking down on us from up above. But on this day, my sweet friend shared a piece of her mother and a memory I know she cherishes among so many others, through a beautiful recipe. It was a subtle and gracious gift. I’ll never forget as I looked at Gayle that day, I couldn’ help but think I hope my mother is as proud of me as I know Gayles mom must be of her. Not because of what she did this day as far as work, but because of the woman she is and the beauty she brings into this world in everything she does. Keep being you Gayle. We need more hearts like yours in this world. Keep shining bright, I see you.
