The start of June went by so quickly, especially with all the severe weather we’ve seen in Arkansas and Oklahoma. I’ve gotten so many notes from people asking how they can help.
In Oklahoma, the Tulsa Community Foundation(TCF)has teamed up with the Tulsa United Way (TAUW) and established the Disaster Relief Fund for Eastern Oklahoma. This fund is fantastic because it helps with “mid- and long-term recovery needs.” Sometimes people not affected by disasters forget that months from now, families will still be rebuilding, still be fighting back, and still need help. This fund is there long after the news of damage has dwindled, and the images aren’t at the forefront of media outlets. It comes into play after immediate response agencies have completed their task, and it’s time for long-term recovery efforts to continue. It’s teamwork at its finest. I posted an interview with Tulsa Community Foundation CEO, Phil Lakin on my facebook page. You can watch it below.
