Let’s face it, it’s August, and it’s hot outside. I love making these fruit-infused waters for several reasons. First, I pretty much just drink water, and that can get old. Sometimes I want something with a little different flavor, but without all those yucky things you find in sugary drinks. This water is so fun and easy to make plus it’s pretty. It all started with a recent bridal shower at our house. I’ve been making the water ever since. If I can do it, you can do it.

  • Chill water, if possible for at least a couple of hours.
  • Slice fruit.

  • Place fruit on parchment paper on a cookie sheet and freeze overnight.
  • Bag fruit; Label and date bags then place unused fruit in baggies and back in the freezer.

Two fun waters on a hot summer day

  • Take your water out of the fridge and place it on the counter.
  • Next, add whatever frozen slices of fruit or veggies you’d like to the water plus any fresh herbs you want to include.
  • Now, top off your water with ice, and you’re pretty much all set.

We’ve made cucumber and mint water, lemon/lime water, orange and mint water, and pineapple water, The possibilities are endless depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. The flavors have been fun to test on the kids. I like it because it helps get them interested in real flavors and makes it a little more interesting because their taste buds are so different.

If you want, depending on your ingredients, you can keep a batch going anywhere from two-three days-ish(LOL.) Just place the water back in the fridge and freshen as needed. You’ll know by the taste and the look when it’s time to toss and make some of your fresh fruit-infused water.

Oh and just FYI – One time the cucumber with mint water turned brown later in the day. I talked to a friend of mine who caters events, and she said it just happens sometimes. I dumped it out made it again the next day, and it never turned brown.
