Saturday mornings I use many times to catch up on sleep.  Today was one of those days. I slept until about 11:00 am. Yep, It felt so good when I got up I asked my daughter if she wanted to run errands and she was all in. So, we got all kinds of things done today including taking a gift by her grandparents before coming home with groceries for some food prep work. She wasn’t feeling great which made it even harder to leave the house tonight and head out to a fundraiser. Don’t get me wrong I love to volunteer, but when you’re a bonus mom who works nights, you try not to give up Saturday nights because you know it won’t be long before you’re not so cool to hang out with anymore. Plus I love to tuck the kids in and say prayers with them. My son had a big day with a big day with ‘Big Dad,’ and I got some time with him too then a quick hug before leaving for the event. He’s eleven and so full of life and creativity. My daughter is 14 going on 30 and she just gives me such hope for the future. They are both so sweet, and they actually try to make me feel better about leaving them to volunteer. I’m blessed and grateful.

Chef Phil Phillips and team compete in the Master Chef Challenge 2019

Tonight I was honored to emcee with Dan Threlkeld, the ‘Blank Canvas’ event supporting  Youth Services of Tulsa.  If you don’ t know about YST, please click their name to learn more about all the wonderful things they try and do for people in Tulsa. I was able to take a tour not long ago, and from what

I’ve seen I can say they are truly a gift.

Chef Ben Alexander and team race against the clock make a specialty meatball.

This year at Blank Canvas, guest get to sample two dishes made by two chefs competing to win the Master Chef Challenge. At the same time, the chefs have 30 minutes to prepare those dishes on the spot,  in front of the guest and judges. The judges then taste what the chefs just made and, after a brief program, we announced the winner is announced before the dance floor opens back up for even more fun and live music.

The winning dish

This year Chef Phil Phillips took home the title with his ‘Croquembouche with Lambic Cream & Porter Syrup.’ it was amazing to watch both teams of artist work so hard and have so much fun, but in the end, Chef Phillips took home the title.

His dessert even had gold flakes on it, and both guest and judges loved the sweet treat.
