A long time ago I had someone come to my home and do what they called a ‘lookbook.’  I got a book full of pictures of how to mix and match different pieces I already owned. She then told me what needed to go and what could stay. Each image included a top and bottom plus accessories I already had and notes about what I needed to get or could get to go with the outfit.  My boss at the time made it all happen. It was amazing.

I realized we or I can forget what’s in my closet. I can also end up liking something so much; I wear it all the time. So I need a little help sometimes. I took this picture with a top about two years old. It works with the brand new boots on the right and the pair from last year on the left. The skirt is also old but works here. Something about seeing a picture of it laid out like this helped me plan for a meeting this particular week.

Now don’t forget apps like Stylebook are pretty handy for this too.

There are a lot of different versions or types of similar apps that aim to help you get organized. And you can also do it the old fashion way with a picture book. For me, both options help me remember a little something old and a little something new often goes hand in hand.
