I met Lindsey Meek while emceeing a fashion show at Utica Square in Tulsa. We quickly learned we have a lot in common. Among other things, we both moved back to Tulsa about the same time. If she looks familiar, you’re probably following her amazing fashion blog or her Instagram. She has lived in Northwest Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. The mom of two and wife of eleven years exudes Southern charm. She can turn any outfit into a trendy statement with just the right combination of sophistication and sassy class. Her style is both ‘realistic’ and ‘relatable.’ We spent some time recently catching up at one of my favorite spots, Stonehouse Cafe. I had so much fun learning more about the journey that’s brought her back home to Tulsa.
She walked into the restaurant with her hair perfectly styled, just like her entire look, and with a great big smile. It was like a breath of fresh air just came into the room. I think you could say spending time with Lindsey Meek is like the crisp air that rolls in as the seasons change. You are so happy to see her arrive; you want to soak up every second you can. In the first five minutes of our conversation I could see, she loves life and what she does. I asked her about it in a question later, and she explained, “I love that this job allows me to be creative. Whether it’s sharing that creativity through the outfits, I’m styling for my blog or pushing my clients to try a piece or style that may push them outside of their comfort zone.”
I mean it doesn’t get much better. One of the things I love about Lindsey is she doesn’t necessarily want to change your style, she wants to enhance it and grow it with you. But I have a feeling if you said, ‘surprise me’ she totally would.
She says her inspiration comes from just about everywhere, her favorite local stores, magazines and style blogs included. She likes; Atlantic-Pacific, Carrie Bradshaw Lied, and Scout the City. She even uses Pinterest when it comes to scrolling for ideas. By the way, you really do need to check out her Pinterest and all of her social media pages.
“The number one thing I would tell people to stop doing is saying things like, “Oh, I could never wear that because…” or “I could never pull that off, because…” Fashion is not just for a few; it’s for everyone! That’s one reason why I love what I do because I can push my clients and readers to try different styles that they had essentially written off as not for them.”
“I hope that my readers see more to me than just clothes and shopping. My true hope is that they come to my blog or my Instagram and see someone who is relatable and that they see looks that they can easily recreate- without feeling like they have to always be shopping for the best and the latest styles. I love blogging because I truly love styling. I love sharing that with my readers, and I hope that they leave my space of the internet feeling beautiful and capable of trying new things!”
I asked about her about some of her favorite spots to shop in Tulsa. It was hard for her to choose, but she told me four great places:
And I just couldn’t help myself, so I asked her about some things to look for this spring and what she likes for the season. See the list:
