When Brooke Rusher walks into a room her charm and spunk take center stage, she’s like the sun when it breaks through the clouds of a rainy day. You’re instantly drawn to her rays of kindness, and you can feel the warmth of her heart shining through everything. You have no choice but to indulge in your time with her and learn all you can. One of the things I love about her is her ability to make anyone feel comfortable including during a workout no matter what their skill level.

For Brooke, it’s all about seeing people get results and then helping them stay the course. She says in her 15 years of training she has witnessed a lot,  “Over the years I’ve seen people live longer, recover faster from surgeries, reduce pain, and feel better daily because of fitness.”  And she loves to see people ‘create’ results, “Even more so, I love when they start seeing the benefits of their result in their everyday life.”

I’ve known her for years, but I’d never worked out with her before, and I wanted to give it a shot. So, I caught up with her at St. John’s Siegfried Health Club on a Friday afternoon. She let me join in on a quick heavy weight workout. I laughed, worked and learned.

I was in college taking a nutrition course and really enjoyed my instructor. I asked her about her background and thought I would love to do that. She received her Bachelor in Health Promotion from OSU. So right then I knew that was my path. – Brooke Rusher

Teaching people that pool fitness can be a great, hard workout! That has been my platform during my career. I know that most people think of water exercise is for older ladies that like to gab. But I have spent my career changing that way of thinking by showing people just how it is to work out in the water – Brooke Rusher

During our workout, we hit everything from upper body to lower body and core. For me, it was fun to enjoy my friend in her element. She was focused and at the same time encouraging and accommodating while also working on getting the most out of me in a limited time period.  I’ll admit I was thinking to myself it went by quickly and I wasn’t sure if I’d be sore the next day. For the record, I like to be sore, and I was lol.

I asked her recently how she stays so passionate about what she does. She told me, “Relationships inspire me. I have a wonderful clientele. I enjoy coming to work each day to be a part of my clients’ lives.  I’ve had most of my clients for years and years. They become family and friends, and I truly care of each of one of their well-being.”

And you can see that any time you’re around her. Brooke is not training people just because it helps pay the bills. She sees the bigger picture. Brooke understands she is changing lives and the people she helps in some way also help her. She genuinely cares about her clients like she does her family and friends.

She is a woman who wants to leave you better than how she found you and if you let her that’s precisely what she will do.
